Improving Digestion With Probiotics
With Thanksgiving behind us and Christmas around the corner, I thought it would be rather beneficial to talk about strengthening our digestion, much needed especially when dealing with rich holiday meals. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Probiotics!
Probiotics are very beneficial micro-organisms that reside in your intestinal tract. They manufacture vitamins such as B vitamins like biotin, niacin, folic acid, and B-6, that detoxify chemicals and metabolize hormones. They help to maximize food absorption and digestion.
Probiotics are disease fighters that deprive undesirable bacteria growth. Probiotics help to change your bodies acid/alkaline balance to a more favorable one. They are extremely beneficial if you’ve taken antibiotics, which damage intestinal flora because antibiotics diminish all bacteria, both good and bad.
Some of us carry up to 4 lbs of bacteria in our intestinal tract! If your intestinal bacteria is in balance, it helps to protect your health. Stress, alcohol. drugs, and pollutants all damage our “good” bacteria. How do you get probiotics in your diet? Cultured foods, such as raw sauerkraut or supplements are an excellent way to restore intestinal bacteria balance. Why is it so important to make sure you are getting your probiotics?
– boost immune system
– detoxify intestinal tract and protect mucous levels
– develop barrier to food-bourne allergies
– reduce risk of inflammatory bowel disease and diverticulosis
– prevent diarrhea
– improve over-all health
– prevent yeast infections
