Your Body & Organs In Winter
It is important to eat foods that support these organs. Keeping in balance with nature (if you live in a cold climate this time of year), it makes sense to consume heartier foods such as, root and ground vegetables, pickles, foods that are saltier, such as miso, tamari, etc.
More oils and longer cooking times, fried rice or noodles, tempura, longer sautéing, beans, seitan, and stews are also good for the cold winter months. If we consume too many raw, cold, or icy foods, our bodies will be out of harmony with nature, therefore, out of balance.
As Spring approaches and the weather starts to warm up again, we can start to incorporate foods such as sprouts and fruits that support the renewal of growth within the earth! Some suggestions may include Kinpira Soup, Spicy Stir-Fry, Beans or Miso Soup.
