AFFIRMATION OF THE DAY: I am mastering all areas of my life!
I’m reading a fantastic book right now called, 9 Lies That Are Holding Your Business Back, by Steve Chandler & Sam Beckford. The chapter that talks about Daring To Create Something Great, where a couple… that works with children describe how children love and enjoy the planet they are on. Children reinvent themselves continuously. They mention the shouts of joy coming from a schoolyard that can be heard for blocks.
They also mention that in a grown-up place of business the shouts of joy are nowhere to be heard. They are replaced with stories of difficulty & challenges. I believe this to be true with life, not just work. How do we master our lives AND our business? In the book, they took an excerpt from Deepak Chopra’s, The Book of Secrets: Imagine a baby who wants to walk but has these reservations:
1. I don’t want to look bad.
2. I don’t want to fall down.
3. I don’t want anyone else to watch me fail.
4. I don’t want to live with the burden of failure.
5. I don’t want to expend all my energy.
6. I don’t want any pain.
7. I want to get things over as fast as possible.
Then they point out how a baby would never walk if he considered any of these seven ideas. What is required is a total commitment without any self-imposed limitations.
I think this is a brilliant way to look at how to master any area of your life. From now on, I will use this baby analogy. This is how I approached healing from cancer, so why not apply it everywhere in my life?
What areas are you afraid to master?
